Thank you and Update

Thank you all for all your warm responses and comments. We have read each and every one to CJ. We wanted to update you on the latest as of today. He did very well today. He is a little tired and still dealing with the back pain but we saw lots of smiles, heard lots of giggles, and he sits here in front of me a happy boy who feels very loved by all his family and friends. We thank each and every one who has come in these past two days to encourage him and spend time with him. As tiring as it is we know it is an important part of this process for him.
We did not get much new information today but we got two new pieces of information and both were good news. We are rejoicing and thanking God in each no matter how small. The first was that the chest X ray that he took yesterday came back clear so it has not spread into his lungs. This was expected but we rejoice for the positive result none the less. The second is that the biopsy scheduled for tomorrow will be done with the less intrusive of the two procedures we were looking at having and for that we also rejoice. I can not explain it medically at this point but basically he will be put to sleep and they will remove enough sample tissue to send off for testing. He will then recover from the procedure and hopefully go home tomorrow. Based on that, we are asking that you hold off on visiting tomorrow until you hear further from us. We will post results about his recovery as soon as possible to let you all know how he is doing.
We thank everyone who has offered to help and asked how they can be of help to us. The first and foremost need we have is your prayers. Pray for him however God leads you to intercede. Right now his immediate needs in prayer are for him to not be nervous about the procedure tomorrow and for it all to go speedily and well. Second, we have been told and are realizing this is going to be a long road for CJ and our family. So I ask for your perseverance along side us. Please press on in prayer even when we are just waiting on results. Please press on in encouraging us. And please be patient as we wait to see what our practical needs will be. We won't know until we get the results of the biopsy and know what his treatments will be.

Our church has asked for a voluntary church wide fasting and prayer from Wednesday to Friday. If you feel lead to participate we would encourage you to do so. There will also be a time of group prayer at our church office Friday morning beginning at 6am or Thursday night at the Mahfoods home beginning at 7:30pm. If you need information about how to get to their home in Pembroke Pines please call Dale or Janet Mahfood at 954-450-4328. Our church website is for directions to the office in Miami Lakes.

CJ is sitting right here and I am asking him what he would like to say to everyone. So here it is..."Thank you for all your prayers. The have calmed me and helped me have joy. Please pray for our family and for tomorrow's tests."
Love, CJ

Dear CJ,
You are in our prayers buddy. Micah has the fun picture of you both on your jet ski on his dresser. We had such a great visit shooting arrows with you that Micah even got his own archery set for his birthday. Each time we look at your picture we are lifting you up in prayer.
Psalm 28:7 "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him and I am helped."
With hugs and lots of love,

Hi Miss Dawn!
This is Sam Carrillo. CJ and your whole family are constantly on my mind and in my prayers. I have asked my youth leader to bring him into prayer at our church. If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to call me or my family. My mom is usually at school in the morning, but I'm here at home and my brother (Andy) is here if I'm not. :)

My sister is standing next to me and she has a message for CJ: "Remember that I commanded you to be strong and brave, so don't be afraid the Lord your God will be with you every where you go" Joshua 1:9 I'm praying for you CJ!

I just want you to know that our family and church and friends are praying for you. Both Jacob and Ashleigh told their Sunday School classes about you this morning in churh.
As I read through the other posts, I stand amazed at how many lives you have touched and will continue to make an impression on. God is using you to reach out to so many people; what an awsome oportunity for you.
Jacob and Ashleigh had so much fun at your house this summer, and hopefully we will be able to see you again soon.
We love you, and you have a bunch of people in Davie, Weston, Virginia, Maine, Tennessee, etc. praying for you.

Dear CJ and George family,
We stand with you in prayer. CJ, tomorrow when you have to get the tests that the Docs told you about, remember...The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.

When i am scared it always comforts me to think about God being a big strong shield around me. It also helps to sing a little song! :-)

Love Mrs. Cris (Tarasiuk) for all the Tarasiuks. (luv ya, Dawn)

Your lil cousin was out in less then 30 seconds last Monday!! ;) Remember turn to the light (God) tomorrow if you start to feel nervous. Like you wrote here on the blog. God is with you and hearing all the many prayers for you!
I was so happy to see the pictures of you. I printed the one out of you, daddy, and mommy. It is on the fridge. I also have it as my background on my computer. I wish we were down there instead of here in VA right now. But you are always in my heart, thoughts, & prayers.
We love you so very much

Hi there CJ!! This is Aunt Karen up in Virginia. I found out that you are in the hospital that I used to work at. I bet all the nurses and doctors go home and tell their families that they are taking care of the sweetest, nicest, cutest, funniest boy ever, named CJ!! We are praying that Jesus will show the doctors how to fix what is making your back hurt, and we are praying that you won't be too scared. We love you, CJ!

Do you know what Uncle Terry and I saw when we drove home from Aunt Heather's the other night? A BEAR!! Yup, the black bear was on the side of the highway, obviously lost. He was watching the traffic go by and he looked scared and confused. Just then, a train went by behind the bear, and that scared him even more. He was really cool, but I don't think you would have wanted to pet him. LOL

So, CJ, you hang in there and remember that your family in Virginia is always thinking about you and praying for you. Tonight, we all got in a circle and prayed for our precious CJ. Do you know who was there praying for you? mama mary, uncle terry, eric and jenn, scott, uncle shawn, aunt cara, aunt heather, maleena, marissa, carlos and me. Oh, I almost forgot Bailey. He was there, too, but I can tell you about him next time. Now wrap your arms around yourself and squeeze, and that is a hug from all of us to you!! We love you, kiddo!! aunt Karen

Hi Dawn and CJ, I woke up this morning with a prayer for both of you and for the people guiding your decisions. I know that you are not alone and that God will guide you and lead you. One of my favorite verses that has helped me through challenging times is Psalms 23 "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 'Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:1-4 Wima

Dear CJ,

The Herrero family is praying like crazy for you, little man. Most importantly, we're holding fast to God's promises, especially these bits from Isaiah 43:1-5

Thus says the LORD, he who created you, he who formed you, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you. Fear not, for I am with you.”

If there is ANYTHING you need, you can count on us.

Mr. and Mrs. Herrero along with Sofie and Marcos

Hey CJ,
I don't know if you remember us but we're Jim and Candy Loftus and our daughters are Kiera and Clare. Kiera and Clare are Cindy and Pam's nieces and they played with you a few times in your backyard. We are so sorry to hear you're not feeling well and we're all praying real hard that you'll feel better soon. Kiera and Clare say hi and they said a special prayer for you in church yesterday.

Dawn and Chris, I know it's difficult, but be strong, and know that all your friends and family are pulling for you, and are here for you, if you need anything.

Your friends,
Jim, Candy, Kiera & Clare

Dear CJ,
We just read Sunday's update and lifted you and your family up in prayer. Chuchi says, "do not be fearful because you maybe fearful, but remember God's love and strength is always with you." Chuchi remembers going over to your house for the pumpkin carving last year and the Single's garage sale. We all had a great time and are here to serve you. Chuchi will be drawing you a picture and we will mail it to your house. Hugs, the Aviles Jr. Family

The Lord turn His face torward you and give you peace." Your freind, Noah

Dear CJ,
Reading your poems have been such an inspiration to me. You made my day. You'll have to give Noah, Amber and me some tips on writing, because you are really good!! I've always wanted to be a writer, and you are a natural writer! A gift from God, I'm sure...just like you are to your family and the rest of us. You've got to post some more as soon as you're feeling better.
We are thinking of you and praying you get all better soon. See you soon. Noah can't wait to come over and play with you again. He's been begging for an air gun. ;-)
We love you, CJ!!!!!!

CJ, I am reading all these comments to you and ...... you are one loved guy!! :) Isn't great to know that SO many people are praying for you DAILY? So many people are TRUSTING GOD to heal you. SO many people are filled with hope for you!

Cj, Sunday was a special day, dedicated to praying and interceding for you. In the morning, Joe and I fasted breakfast and prayed for you. After lunch mind and joe got to visit you (i hope they told you that i wished i could have come!) After they got back later that night, a group of us stopped what we were doing and got together and started praying for you.

Some of them didn't know you as well as us Pinos did :) and asked us to tell them more about you. We said you were a center of joy for your family. You loved telling jokes and making people laugh, but that you were incredibly mature too. That you are very observant-

"I'm gonna call you Tomboy with lipstick!"
"What why!?"
"Because...its like you play sports, but you dress nice to. And you wear lipstick." ;) haha

Most importantly though, we told them that you loved the Lord, and have a personal relationship with Him!! We thank God for that Cj! Thank you for wanting to honor Him, and for loving Him through these trials as i know you are. That is such an encouragement to me, and so many others!!!

Cj I just wanted to leave you with this scripture Psalms 57: 1-3
"1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
2 I cry out to God Most High,
to God, who fulfills {his purpose} for me....
......God sends his love and his faithfulness."

GOD is good. We will continue to pray!!

-Stephanie Pino ....tomboy with lipstick! ;)
